COMMUNITY SERVICE

Rotarians lead with service - service to others and to our community. Community service projects provide a great way to give back to the community and make a positive impact. Whether it's volunteering at a local nonprofit, organizing a neighborhood cleanup, or participating in a donation drive, there are countless ways to get involved.

View our annual service projects below and join us to make a difference and create a stronger, more connected community.

Pancakes for Polio

Our annual pancake breakfast raises funds to donate to Rotary International’s Polio Plus initiative. Since 1985, Polio Plus has given the oral polio vaccine to over 2.5 billion children. Last year a record low number of children contracted Polio – just 22 cased in 3 countries.

Read Across America

During the week of Dr. Seuss’s birthday, Rotarians and Interact students go to every kindergarten class in the school district and read the selected Dr. Seuss book to the children, then give each student one of their very own.

Chicken ‘n Stuff

Every year, the Rotary Club sells delicious chicken meals to raise money for the Rotary Club of Chambersburg Foundation.

Stuff the Bus

The Club collects school supplies for the United Way of Franklin County’s annual effort to provide supplies to local school districts to distribute to students whose families cannot afford to purchase them on their own.

World’s Greatest Meal

As part of Rotary’s ongoing efforts to eradicate Polio, our Rotary District is coordinating a fundraising effort during the week of World Polio Day. The members of our club, along with the other 76 clubs in the District, will brown-bag their lunches and donate the money we would have spent for the weekly meal to Polio Plus. Last year the District raised over $20,000 through this effort.

Flags for Heroes

Honoring those who serve and have served is Chambersburg Rotary Club's annual Flags for Heroes. All are invited to pay tribute to our community heroes--past and present--by honoring your own hero.

Sam’s Club Christmas & Salvation Army Bell Ringing

The club donates funds to the YMCA’s Sam’s Club and helps pack and wrap gifts for children who attend the Sam’s Club program in Chambersburg. We also volunteer to do bell ringing for the Salvation Army on the Saturday before Christmas.
